When he wasn’t touring the art shows, Terry was in his Oregon studio, drawing landscapes and wildlife so real you blink twice to be sure they aren’t photographs.

His drawings began in black and white. Many of the lithograph prints were then tinted, one by one, in watercolor, which added a whole new dimension to the work.

More than 150 of his drawings are in print.

Snow, timber and the quiet of the cold months, a theme Terry returned to again and again.

About the artist

All-American ballplayer. Self-taught with a pencil.

Terry grew up on a ranch west of Jacksonville in the Rogue Valley. Baseball took him to three All-American seasons at the University of Oregon, four years in the minor leagues and nine years coaching at Springfield High. Then, in 1975, at 42, he began drawing in his own self-taught style.

For some 35 years he showed at prestigious art shows and festivals across the West, often taking top honors, and placed in the National Parks “Art in the Parks Top 100” in 1988 and 1989.

Terry passed away on January 4, 2021, in the care of his family. His drawings remain in homes and collections around the world.
